It has been a long time since I have shot with Katie. Too long in fact. We always have fun when we shoot. A shoot was due! Katie mentioned that her friend, Jenna, was coming…
So Monika. I haven't shot her in years. We caught up again on Facebook and she told me about an idea she wanted to try. Me being open minded about concepts, agreed to try it…
I know I am a bit late on this announcement. A few of you already knew about the birth of my daughter, Blu Azucena Sevilla, via Facebook. Blu was born three weeks ago and was…
So two weekends ago I shot Diana. She had an interesting look which I generally look for in models. We went to Miami beach to try some test shots in swimwear, since swimwear is extremely…
I know I am a little delayed in posting this, but better late than never right? This was a shoot I did when Elena and I visited New York. I posted a casting call for…
So my friend John asked me for some head shots. I promised him I would so I did it this weekend. I needed a white background and decent lighting. Well, when I went to pick…
Amanda loved the photographs I took of Jaribay. She contacted me shortly after and hired me to do something along those lines. You know, sunrise with nice colors in the back and such? Great! Time…
Sometime ago Elena wanted to go out and play with her new camera. She wanted to take photos of her friend Yami, along with her husband and son. We went to the park and decided…
I am always picky about quality. I always like shooting at ISO 100 to make sure I get crisp and clear photographs. Tonight I was playing with grain and wondering about whether or not it's…
I was hired again by fashion designer/model Katie Eastman. She is the owner of Truffle, her fashion line. Originally I pitched to her the idea of a bikini shoot with lighting along the lines of…
I recently blogged about my shoot with Sonju and Jessica. I mentioned that I was meeting a model that same day for additional test shoots. Karina is from Russia and like Jessica, is also extremely…

Cleo began working on Elena. I could not help but want to take video footage of what was going on (video of this shoot at the end of this article). I was watching Elena morph…
About two weeks ago I wanted to try a beach shoot with someone that has a bikini figure. I asked Jaribay if she would be interested in shooting. She seemed excited and told me that…
This shot was taken with me standing next to them using a 17mm lens. I like this photo. The facial expressions on both Katie and Elena are amazing. Oh Yes, this shot was also taken…
I was looking through some of my unpublished work the other day when I come across this shot. It was a bikini/swim wear sunrise photo shoot. The problem was that the clouds completely blocked off the sunrise and as such I was forced to try other things, other camera angles to try to salvage the morning. In this particular shot, I asked the model to lie down on the sand for some shots, when she recommended perhaps doing a topless concept, but being covered with sea weed. Winston, my assistant, was with me so I take a look at him. I felt a bit shy about the notion since there were people at the beach and I'm not used to shooting implied in public places. I said go for it.

Amy is a co-worker with a background in graphic design. Often times, when I used to work in her office, she would come along and show me and another IT Co-Worker some of her work. Never failing to impress us, she one day showed me her photographic work using a point-n-shoot camera. Since then I have encouraged her to purchase a DSLR for her photography. She finds out later on that I shoot photographs for fun.

I had the honor of photographing a lead clothing designer in South Florida recently, Katie from www.ShopTruffle.com. The original intent of this shoot was to shoot simple shots with a white background to add to a web catalog. Nothing fancy was required. I did go ahead and did the simple white background thing, but while editing I noticed how colorful her clothing line was, so it sparked an idea. Why not make the background a bit more interesting and augment the colors she is wearing in the shots? Paint! I have also been experimenting with a different editing technique on the skin. Keep in mind, she made the clothing herself. Enjoy.

I suppose I will make this blog post short. Elena invited me to go up to Alabama with her to spend Thanksgiving with her sister and family. I was hesitant about accepting her offer at first. Meeting two of the most important people in her life definitely made me nervous. Airplanes also make me nervous.
Below is a short clip showing a small part of my time with Elena while in Auburn. The video also shows Billy, her little brother, who knows how to play a MEAN game of Call of Duty: Black Ops!
I will soon create another blog post with more details about my trip, a new video, and I will publish the photos I took up there. In the meantime, enjoy the video and this photograph.
Both the video and the photographs were taken with my Canon 5DMKII. The song in this video is called “Love Lost” by The Temper Trap. It is a beautiful song and the album is amazing as well. Buy it.
-RS Below is a video I made showing more photographs and behind the scenes content.
I was talking to a friend on facebook today, and he mentioned the song "Closer" from Kings of Leon. It reminded me of a video I made a while back showcasing some of my work. Feeling nostalgic I went to look it up. Ahh, how great it felt going through my old work. How as a new photographer I would get lost in my art. I began to wonder, "Why did I sway away from this style?". I reminded myself that I was looking for a change. I wanted to diversify my shooting. I wanted to try different things. Still, after flooding my mind with awesome memories, I have decided that I will once again continue my original style of shooting, while doing more commercial shots that cater to my clients.
I just uploaded a higher resolution version of my original video here. 480p and it contains a better ending I guess you can say. Dim lights
Here is the original uploaded YouTube video with over 13,000 hits. Video was uploaded about a year ago. Dim lights
I began employment at a law firm about 2 1/2 years ago. That year the firm decided to have an X-Mas party at The Pelican (?) restaurant. There was an auction taking place as well, where employees would sell services or goods to the highest bidder. All earnings would go to charity. I decided to help out by auctioning a photo shoot. Ok... I am getting side tracked here, but the point is that I met lots of employees from other offices at this party, including other members of the IT Staff. I also brought my camera with me to document the event and put it on our intranet site so that employees may enjoy the shots.
A colleague of mine asked me to take a picture with him and a girl named Elena. Sure I said, and he introduced me to her. Months later I inquired about having a shoot with her to augment my portfolio. She said she was interested, but talks died shortly after. I am the type of person that does not ask twice, so I left it at that. Fast forward about two years, and I place a casting call on facebook and Elena msgs me asking if I allow others to stop by and watch me shoot. Talks about shooting once again came up, and to my surprise she was interested in shooting. Elena mentioned that she did want to shoot back then, but was very shy. She made it clear to me that she never modeled before and that she does not feel she is a photogenic person.
Since when has that been a problem? lol
I call Nisha, an awesome hairstylist that I have worked before and she agreed to work on her hair for the shoot. I also called up Katie, an amazing designer who has modeled for me before. She loved her look and requested Elena's measurements.
The following is a video preview of the photos that are to be published soon. While I will write about the shoot in greater detail in a future blog post, I will say that it was extremely refreshing working with Elena.
So to those interested in shooting but are afraid due to the lack of experience...I say, "Who cares about experience. Just have fun and be yourself". After all... I shoot for fun, not to make a living out of it. :)
Below is my first "behind the scenes" video that I have released. I plan on making more of these videos to show people more or less what it is like to shoot with me. Another reason why I am doing this is because I have been asked countless times by other photographers the following question : "How did you light your subject?". While I do plan on making more in-depth tutorials to answer such questions, photographers can get a glimpse on just how I light my subjects.
Play the video, watch the footage, and get a preview of the some of the shots I will be publishing soon from this shoot.
I would like to thank Cesar Yenkenes for letting me use his music for this video. Please visit his website to hear more of his work. My future videos will also contain some of his other works too.
SO at the event I began recording MINOR video clips. My camera is big, it's heavy, and without the use of a decent tripod, I did not expect to record much. (Yes, my camera can record video as well). While I enjoyed all the Spanish based bands at the show, I felt more at home with this band that played some of my favorite songs (Guns n Roses anyone?!). With my adrenaline up, I managed to hold my beast of a camera long enough to capture several minutes of their play time. I liked the singer's energy, the drummer was just PLAIN AWESOME, lead guitar was awesome (despite the small mistake on the solo), bass was awesome, and secondary singer sang very good too. I later ask the lead singer for a business card as I am interested in seeing what else they have. She comes back with poster of the band. How band like. lol.
